1 Deponcins, Gontran. Kabloona.
New York Reynal & Hitchcock Hard Cover
In collaboration with Lewis Galantiere. Illustrated by author. Black and white photos (11 of them) in the back of the book. Hand colored full-page illustrations and full-page sketches of Eskimos he met. CR 1941. X-Library with stamps, numbers and pocket in back. Overall good+ condition. This Frenchman decided to embark on a voyage to the North. Alaska and the Eskimo tribe he met was the Netsilikmiut (The Seal Eskimos) - a 20,000 mile trek from Ottawa to Vancouver, a 15-month voyage. He hitched rides, depended upon the journeyings of others, and had no means of transportation of his own. He hitched rides with eskimos going to a seal camp, with Coast Guard boats, etc. He sought to "live" the Eskimo life, not to just write about it.
