Published by the Commission For The Preservation of Natural and Historical Monuments and Relics. Dated 1953, 128 pages. In the early days of the Colony's history, prospectors found worked gold in the form of beads, tacks and foil. Vandalism occurred in the ruins and this Commission was formed to preserve them. Black and white photos of ruins, cave writings, rock paintings, etc. Dust jacket has a few tears, otherwise good+ condition.

In 1968, in a cornfield in Illinois indian spear points were found which lead to the great excavation (26 layers) near Kampsville, Illinois, 70 miles north of St. Loyis. The "Koster" indians, a peaceful, sophisticated people, their way of life, cultures and knowledge were uncovered as sone of the earliest known setlers in the Western Hemisphere, dating to 6500 B.C.
