The surviving Utes live on two adjoining reservations in Southwest Colorado and a distant reservation in Utah. Once a strong independent tribe that ranged over more than a hundred thousand square miles, they are now isolated and forgotten - denied their spiritual roots. She interviewed indian families, members of the Tribal Council, people in the office of the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs), and white neighbors and merchants.
