A narrative of the experiences of Captain Roger Murray and others in an American Clipper ship during Years of 1846 to 1856. Title page date MCMXXXIII (1933), CR 1933, 487 pages with 2 pages of ads of books by Laing. Bue covers with marbled insets. All good+ condition. End pastedowns - front is South Street, New York 1855, back is author's sketch of map of voyages. Foreward dated 1932, Hanover, NH. Experts in the clipper ship era will note that their is a resemblance to Capt. Robert H. Waterman in his Captain Murray. He did not attempt a portrait of Waterman nor to take sides in the controversy over the memory of Waterman, but to make a character who could logically have been expected to achieve the principles of seamanship. The majority of the minor figures are real, the major ones are fictional - the ship is real.
